A Fundraiser for SOS Volunteer Trips is happening this Friday, March 19th, 2010 at 9pm at Wilfs. There will be chances to win cool prizes, and you'll be helping Laurier volunteers fundraise for upcoming volunteer trips to Latin America, so bring all your friends! What is $100,000? To some it is a new sports car, to others it is the cost of a quality education. To SOS, it is our goal! Our goal to offer our support to those that may not ever be able to experience the feeling of having $20 dollars in their pocket or a bed they can call their own. There are so many opportunities and advantages we all have in life, and the fact that we can be part of a drastic change is absolutely amazing! Together we can help less fortunate individuals have the opportunities we take advantage of everyday! The Laurier SOS team is excited to announce that we have two amazing trip opportunities for all students to travel to Guatemala or Nicaragua. The Guatemala trip is taking place the first two weeks of May, and The Nicaragua trip taking place the last two weeks of August. Both of these life-changing experiences will allow students to help build a school and aid in the construction of vegetable gardens for individuals who normally do not have access to these facilities or education. This is an experience of a lifetime that will allow volunteers to experience a different culture, learn from these individuals, and also lend a helping hand! I would like to take the opportunity to offer my sincere gratitude to all off you students on behalf of the SOS Team. Your support has been absolutely incredible over the past months and we are so gracious for your support! We are proud to say that we were able to raise over $22,000 dollars from the winter midterm sessions. This year we have raised over $80,000, and we are well on our way to our goal of $100,000. This is all thanks to the generosity of our team, our tutors, and most of all you, the students who make this possible. Good Luck with the madness that March brings and we hope to see you at our Exam-AID sessions for finals! April is sure to bring some beautiful weather and we know how hard it is to sit indoors studying when everyone else is outside on Alumni field soaking up the sun! Do not let finals compromise the excitement of spring and let SOS help you out! Your support is the concrete foundation of our organization and $100,000 is well within our reach!
